I (Matt) trusted Christ as my savior in Gardena, CA when I was about seven. Then I fell away from the LORD during my high school and college years. After moving to Washington, DC, I started attending a bible church. I started reading Scripture on a daily basis for the first time in my life and began to learn about God’s standard against the sin in my life. My small group gave me love and support. Over time, I slowly moved closer to God and really started to enjoy fellowship with Him.
Malia and I believe God has called me to pastoral ministry so I can continue to use my gifts of teaching, leading, and encouraging others. Right now I am using these gifts while serving at my job, church, and Life Group.
I also have artistic gifts, which I believe God is using to reach the artist community with the Gospel. I believe this skill will help me present the Gospel in unique and colorful ways so people can see orthodoxy in a new light. See this website, which I designed to showcase local Dallas artists who depict biblical themes in their artwork: www.artsfestivalgallery.org.
My wife and I are committed to helping others know who our Triune God is so they might place their trust and identity in Him alone (Jn 14:6).
My spiritual gifts include teaching, serving, encouraging, and leadership (Rom 12:7-8). I am a gifted teacher. I taught “Biblical Worship” at DTS’s Center for Biblical Studies during the spring 2010 semester. The feedback I received from the students included these comments “He was very encouraging…”, “Matt has an easy personality, patient and genuine”, and “This course will help me to better worship and explain to young folk why we worship and its importance.”
To learn more about me, read my curriculum vitae, which outlines my pastoral, teaching, and artistic experience.
